Amman
Amman
is a capital city of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the place you must
visit. Amman is a city of contrast where is the most beautiful and most
anticipated collision of old and new. Ancient Roman ruins, maze and souk
streets, cafes with Arabic specialties, traditional Arabic coffee or tea, small
workshops, bustle and crowds of city life, across the hilly landscape invite
travelers of all sorts to explore and find hidden treasures of this city. Also
there is a beautiful and charming modern part of the city and shopping area.
Jerash
The ruined city of Jerash is Jordan's
largest and most interesting Roman site, and a major tourist drawcard. It`s
imposing ceremonial gates, colonnaded avenues, temples and theatres all speak
to the time when this was an important imperial centre. The city's golden age
came under Roman rule, during which time it was known as Gerasa, and the site
is now generally acknowledged to be one of the best-preserved Roman provincial
towns in the world. The modern city of Jerash can be found of the east and west.
Great place to explore history !
Wadi Rum
Wadi Rum also known as a Moon Valley is a amazingly
beautiful place to see the sunset.Wadi Rum is a protected area covering 720
square kilometers of dramatic desert wilderness in the south of Jordan. Huge
mountains of sandstone and granite emerge, sheer-sided, from wide sandy valleys
to reach heights of 1700 meters and more. Narrow canyons and fissures cut deep
into the mountains and many conceal ancient rock drawings etched by the peoples
of the desert over millennia. Bedouin tribes still live among the mountains of
Rum and their large goat-hair tents are a special feature of the landscape. Also the colour spectrum of orange and yellow colours is beautiful.
Petra
Carved directly
into vibrant red, white, pink, and
sandstone cliff faces, the prehistoric Jordanian city of Petra was
"lost" to the Western world for hundreds of years.Located amid rugged desert canyons and mountains in what is now the southwestern corner of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Petra was once a thriving trading center and the capital of the Nabataean empire between 400 B.C. and A.D. 106.
The city sat empty and in near ruin for centuries. Only in the early 1800s did a European traveler disguise himself in Bedouin costume and infiltrate the mysterious locale.
In 1985, the Petra Archaeological Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, and in 2007 it was named one of the new seven wonders of the world.Several scenes from the Hollywood blockbuster Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade were filmed in Petra. Stunning Architecture ! Seeing this amazin stone city is indescribable by word!
Dead
Sea
The Dead Sea, also known as the Salt Sea, is
a salt lake bordering Jordan to the east and Israel and the West Bank to the
west. It’s a hypersaline lake that is truly one of Earth’s unique places. The Dead Sea area has
become a major center for health research and treatment for several reasons.
The mineral content of the water, the very low content of pollens and other
allergens in the atmosphere, the reduced ultraviolet component of solar
radiation, and the higher atmospheric pressure at this great depth each have
specific health effects.
